「CHER AQUA.
A Fluid and Organic Tea Space: The Fusion of Sustainable Design and Sensory Experience
「CHER AQUA」is located on the first floor of the commercial area in the Taichung National Theater. Embracing the theater’s existing curved architectural forms, the space seamlessly integrates contemporary design language with modern tea culture, creating an experience that is both tranquil and dynamic. Warm wooden elements harmonize with the cool tones of stainless steel and glass bricks, while lush greenery punctuates the space, achieving a delicate balance between rigidity and softness, warmth and coolness.
In terms of spatial planning, foldable paper screens—designed for reusability—are strategically placed to define different zones, overcoming spatial constraints and enhancing adaptability. These modular screens not only highlight sustainability and durability but also allow the environment to transform as needed. Their organic texture and materiality soften the rigid structural framework, bringing a refined tactile warmth to the space.
What once served as a temporary construction enclosure has been transformed into a permanent architectural feature, reinforcing the principles of material repurposing and ESG sustainability. The layered paper screens subtly guide visitors through the space, inviting them to explore and engage with the tea experience on a deeper level.
